Three Cards v0.1.0
overview
Three Cards is the first iteration of a tabletop role-playing/journaling game game about Tarot. i’ve been stumped on this project for a few weeks now and needed to make something—anything. This is what i came up with today.
what’s in here
Version 0.1.0 is a 13-page document (~2500 words) that includes basic rules for three phases of playing Three Cards: Learning Divination, Practicing Your Craft, and Teaching Divination. From the text of the rules document:
In the Learning Divination phase, you will practice reading Tarot cards—often with the assistance of a table or your Covenmates. In the Practicing Your Craft phase, you will be on your own building and reinforcing your divinatory skills. In the Teaching Divination phase, you will practice explaining your understanding of the Tarot cards to your Covenmates.
what’s gonna be in updates
Future versions are anticipated to have more robust explanations of each phase of the game, a redesigned set of mechanics for collecting and spending energy, an added emphasis on interpersonal relationships and collaboration, and more intricate interlocking systems for narrative generation through Tarot reading.
